Malarikkal, an unknown place in India where thousands of lilies will delight you with bloom. Photo
Kerala is one of those places in India that you can't get enough of. However, if you have already been to this beautiful tropical state and dream of a place that is off the beaten path, we have a little secret for you.
During this unusual trip, you should check out Malarikkal, a wonderful village in Kottayam, Kerala. The village creates a fascinating spectacle even in its serenity as 650 acres of rice fields come to life with pink and white water lilies and lotus flowers every September and October, Times of India writes.
The flooded fields, where thousands of flowers bloom during the peak season, have been attracting locals for more than a decade, but remain elusive to tourists. They even hold their own festival, Malarikkal Water Lilly Fest.
Tourists can visit the lily fields on small boats for about 100 Indian rupees per person, but entry is prohibited as the fields are privately owned.
The best time to visit these fields during the flowering season is around sunrise.
