Marriott introduces its Moxy hotel brand in India
Marriott International Inc. is going to open its first hotel in India. The hotel is expected to have 128 luxury rooms.
The hotel of the new brand will be located at the Bengaluru airport in the southeastern part of Karnataka state. The owner will be the developer Prestige Group, which manages such hotel chains as JW Marriott and W Hotels, livemint reports.
Ranju Alex, Vice President of Marriott South Asia, has unveiled the company's plans for the coming years. As part of its expansion strategy, Marriott plans to open three new hotels representing the midscale and economy class.
These properties will be located in key cities, including Mumbai and Chennai, as well as a second hotel in dynamic Bengaluru.
She emphasized that she is confident in the development of the Moxy brand.
"It will thrive in India because of the large number of young people in the country and the speed at which they travel," said Ranju Alex.
According to her, the company has decided to focus on major cities because they are the most important points of travelers. It is noted that 125 Moxy hotels have been opened in 24 countries.
The brand with a 10-year history has decided to abandon the usual reception desks in its hotels. Now, instead, there are large public spaces, and check-in can be done in the lobby bar.
Marriott already operates 148 hotels in India, and eight more have been launched since April last year. It is planned to open 15 more hotels by 2024. It is expected that by 2025 there will be 250 Marriott hotels in India, making the country the company's third largest market.
