New Benefits for Travelers: Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines Expand Partnership
Garuda Indonesia (GA) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have announced an expansion of their commercial partnership, bringing new benefits for travelers. This enhanced collaboration promises to provide more seamless travel experiences and additional perks for frequent flyer program members of both airlines. The agreement was signed today in Jakarta by Garuda Indonesia's CEO, Mr. Irfan Setiaputra, and SIA's CEO, Mr. Goh Choon Phong.
Travelers will soon enjoy the ability to earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights operated by both airlines through the GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer programs. Additionally, the partnership includes a revenue-sharing agreement, aimed at increasing joint capacity and offering more travel options between Indonesia and Singapore.
The enhanced partnership will also boost joint marketing efforts to promote tourism, including potential familiarization trips for travel trade and media. This initiative is expected to attract more tourists to Indonesia and provide better travel connectivity between the two countries.
Currently, Garuda Indonesia codeshares on Singapore Airlines flights between Singapore and various Indonesian cities such as Bali, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya, as well as long-haul routes to Johannesburg, London (Heathrow), and Mumbai. Similarly, SIA codeshares on Garuda Indonesia flights between Singapore and Bali, Jakarta, and Surabaya.
Mr. Irfan Setiaputra, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, emphasized that the partnership aims to enhance the overall travel experience for customers by leveraging the strengths of both airlines. He noted that this collaboration is particularly significant as the aviation industry continues to recover from the pandemic, offering more value and convenience to travelers.
The expanded partnership also celebrates 58 years of Garuda Indonesia's service, connecting Indonesia and Singapore. It aims to strengthen cultural, social, and tourism ties between the two nations, while providing travelers with greater access to a variety of destinations.
