New Codeshare Agreement Boosts Travel Options between Latvia and Bulgaria
Starting May 8, 2024, travelers between Latvia and Bulgaria will enjoy enhanced flight options and connectivity, thanks to a new codeshare partnership between airBaltic and Bulgaria Air. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in European aviation, offering passengers increased flexibility and access to a broader network of destinations.
The codeshare agreement allows airBaltic to place its code on Bulgaria Air's domestic route between Sofia and Varna, while Bulgaria Air will code the Sofia-Riga route and extend it to include key Scandinavian destinations such as Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Helsinki. This strategic move not only simplifies travel arrangements but also opens up new direct flight opportunities for travelers seeking to explore more of Europe.
Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, emphasized the benefits for passengers, stating, "This partnership with Bulgaria Air comes shortly after we launched our direct flight from Sofia to Riga, significantly enhancing our service offerings and providing our passengers with convenient connections to Bulgaria Air’s extensive network."
Hristo Todorov, Chairman of Bulgaria Air, also highlighted the advantages of the agreement, pointing out that it facilitates smoother travel experiences across Europe. "Our passengers can now enjoy seamless connections and a wider range of travel options, making it easier than ever to explore new destinations," Todorov noted.
The first flight under this codeshare agreement took off on May 14, 2024, signifying the start of what both airlines anticipate will be a fruitful and long-standing collaboration. This partnership not only increases travel efficiency but also contributes to the growth of tourism and business exchanges between the Baltic and Balkan regions.
With this agreement, airBaltic and Bulgaria Air are set to offer more than just travel solutions; they are paving the way for a more connected and accessible European travel landscape. Passengers can now look forward to a more streamlined travel experience, enhanced route flexibility, and the opportunity to explore a wider array of destinations with ease.
