New Winter Routes: Finnair Expands Flights to Lapland and Norway
Finnair has announced new winter routes to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, and Tromsø and Trondheim in Norway. Starting next winter season, travelers will benefit from an increased frequency of flights to these popular northern destinations. Rovaniemi will see up to 63 weekly flights, 13 more than last winter, with the most additional flights scheduled for Wednesdays and weekends. On peak Saturdays, flights to Rovaniemi will be available every half hour.
In addition to Rovaniemi, Finnair will fly six days a week from Rovaniemi to Tromsø in Northern Norway. This route, first introduced in December 2023, operates with connections from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and then to Tromsø, and vice versa. Tromsø also benefits from direct year-round flights from Helsinki.
Finnair is also increasing its service to Trondheim, with flights scheduled six times per week in the upcoming winter season. This expansion comes in response to growing interest in northern travel destinations, which saw significant demand last winter.
Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer of Finnair, noted that these new routes and increased frequencies are designed to serve the European network, providing smooth connections to the north via Helsinki. The aim is to offer more travel options and greater convenience for passengers during the winter months.
The aviation winter season runs from October to March, allowing travelers to experience the unique charms of Lapland in late autumn, winter, and early spring. Finnair remains the only airline offering year-round flights to Finnish Lapland, ensuring continuous access to this enchanting region.
