Nonstop flights from Baku to the Maldives start November.
Azerbaijan Airlines is set to expand its international network with the introduction of direct flights from Baku to the Maldives. Beginning on November 8, 2024, the airline will offer twice-weekly service to Velana International Airport in Malé, marking the first time the carrier has operated flights to the popular island destination.
The new route will be operated on Fridays and Sundays, with return flights on Saturdays and Mondays. The airline plans to deploy its Boeing 787 aircraft on the six-hour route, offering passengers a convenient and comfortable option to reach the Maldives without layovers. Roundtrip tickets for the first weekend of service are currently priced at $633.
In its official statement, Azerbaijan Airlines emphasized the benefits of the new route, stating that the nonstop service would significantly reduce travel time, making it ideal for travelers seeking a quick and seamless journey to the sunny beaches of the Maldives.
With this launch, Azerbaijan Airlines continues to diversify its international offerings. The airline currently operates over 2,000 flights per month, with a fleet that includes Airbus and Boeing models. While many of its routes are regional, this new long-haul service to the Maldives highlights the carrier's growing ambitions in the global market.
