Norway hit by the most powerful storm in 30 years. Video
The most dangerous storm in more than three decades called Ingunn has hit Norway. The storm tore off roofs and cut off power to people's homes.
Hurricane winds hit the Scandinavian country with gusts of up to 180 km/hour. Near Lærdal, a small town northeast of the more populated Bergen, a bus with 14 passengers went off the road due to the bad weather. Police reported that no one was injured, AP writes.
Some areas were flooded, and airlines and ferry operators suspended services. On January 29-30, there were isolated reports of closed schools, roads, tunnels and bridges in regions of Norway.
The country's meteorological institute noted that on February 1, a new national record for wind speeds of 195.8 km/h was set. It was on the island of Sjomat in the morning.
The storm hit the same area as the 1992 New Year's Eve hurricane, one of the strongest storms in Norwegian history.
