Parents of girl burned on board in 2022 file lawsuit against United Airlines
The horrific situation that befell a 6-year-old girl on a United Airlines flight from Israel to New Jersey in 2022 has been continued. The parents filed a lawsuit against the airline, demanding $75,000. They claim that the child suffered food burns due to the carrier's negligence.
The tragedy occurred when a flight attendant served hot food to passengers on a tray, after which the mother put it in front of the little girl. According to the Independent, in a lawsuit filed last week, the company's customers accuse United Airlines of malfunctioning the table.
The parents reported that the table tilted downward, causing the tray to slip and the food to burn the girl's knees.
"The food on O.F.'s tray was excessively hot and caused serious burns to O.F.," the lawsuit states.
In the document, the girl's parents write that the mother immediately demanded medical attention, but the crew allegedly did not have the necessary medicines to treat the burns.
The girl was forced to endure "extreme discomfort" for the rest of the flight. Now she "has scars and disfigurement" from the burns.
In court, the parents will argue that the injury was caused by the excessively hot temperature of the dish, a faulty table and the lack of necessary medicines.
The parents are seeking damages for past and future medical care and treatment.
The company has now stated that it cannot comment on the lawsuit until it is completed.
