Passenger Takes Control of Plane After Pilot Becomes Unconscious
An incident in the skies over Nevada has left many in shock. The plane had taken off from Henderson Airport near Las Vegas and was headed to Monterey, California. However, two hours into the flight, the pilot suddenly lost consciousness. One of the passengers had to take control of the aircraft, following instructions from air traffic controllers. Despite the stressful situation, she successfully landed the plane at Bakersfield Airport.
According to FlightRadar24, the incident occurred at an altitude of about 6,000 feet, and air traffic controllers assisted the passenger in adjusting the course and maintaining a stable speed. Thanks to their guidance, the landing was smooth, and the plane remained intact. The pilot was quickly transported to the hospital for medical attention.
This event serves as a vivid example of how unforeseen circumstances can threaten flight safety. In recent years, similar incidents have highlighted the importance of introducing new protocols for training passengers and crew on how to act in emergencies.
Although such occurrences are rare, they draw attention to the need for additional safety measures in air travel. In the future, airlines may consider revising their training programs for passengers, so that in emergency situations, they can at least have basic knowledge of how to manage the plane until help arrives.
