Porto, Venice, and Alicante: 10 new travel destinations from Belfast airports this year
In the post-holiday period, it's time to think about your vacation plans for 2024. When choosing a destination, it is crucial to opt for the most convenient way to get there.
Over the past twelve months, several airlines based at Belfast and George Best International Airports have launched new routes," writes Belfast Live. So, if you're looking for some sun or even a ski vacation, take a look at some of these destinations that you can now fly to from Belfast.
Larnaca, Cyprus
EasyJet plans to launch this new route to Larnaca, Cyprus, in the summer of 2024 from Belfast International Airport. Flights will start from May 2 with departures three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays throughout the summer season.
Enfida, Tunisia
Enfidha is another new destination for EasyJet from Aldergrove this year. The new route between Belfast International Airport and Enfidah will open on April 20 with twice-weekly departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the year. In addition to first-class resorts, the Sahara Sands and North African markets are well-visited in this region.
Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Not exactly a new destination for many who have visited the Balearic Islands, but Northern Ireland-based tour operator Travel Solutions plans to bring this route back to George Best City Airport.
Porto, Portugal
Until now, the only flights from Belfast to Portugal have been in the direction of the Algarve, to Faro Airport. Now, Ryanair has launched a new route for culture lovers and wine enthusiasts to Porto, an ideal destination for a long weekend getaway.
Venice, Italy
Venice, known as one of the most romantic cities on the planet with its canals and gondolas, is the perfect destination for an Italian vacation. A new route from Belfast City Airport will be launched in June this year.
Menorca, Spain
Another one of the Balearic Islands is also getting a new route from Travel Solutions due to the demand for summer sunshine vacations from the city's airport. Known as a more low-key option than some of the other Spanish islands, it could be the perfect destination for a more relaxed week-long getaway.
Lanzarote, Spain
Another well-visited island, and of course, there are already other air routes to the Canary Islands. But Ryanair has announced that in 2023 it will open a new route from the International Airport, giving sun worshippers another option for flying there.
Turin, Italy
While not considered a major tourist destination in itself, Turin Airport serves as a base for skiers who transfer on their way to neighboring snow resorts. Fortunately, this is another new air route announced by Michael O'Leary's Aldergrove-based Ryanair in 2024.
Alicante, Spain
With plenty of neighboring resort towns like Benidorm and Torrevieja, Alicante could be a great destination for your summer vacation this year. The city of Alicante itself is not bad if you're looking for a city break. This year, EasyJet is launching a route to the Costa Dorada from the city's airport.
Salzburg, Austria
Another city for ski fanatics. The new routes will serve Austria's most famous ski resorts, such as Zell am See and Saalbach, and will be operated by Crystal Ski Holidays from Belfast International Airport. The Belfast - Salzburg flight will be operated on Saturdays from December 21, 2024, to March 22, 2025.
