Prague and other European cities tighten tourism rules: new restrictions on rentals and nightlife
Starting in July 2025, Prague will implement new restrictions on short-term rentals and nightlife to better manage tourism-related disturbances. One key measure is a ban on organized bar tours from 10 PM to 6 AM, aimed at reducing noise and disorderly conduct in tourist hotspots. Additionally, new rules for platforms like Airbnb will limit the number of days properties can be rented out.
Landlords will be required to register their properties through a new electronic platform called eTurista. This system will track all rental transactions, reducing the number of unregulated rentals, which currently make up a significant portion of the market. The new rules also aim to close the tax gap caused by unreported rental income, improving oversight in the sector.
