Qatar Airways Introduces Avios-Earning Visa Credit Cards in the US
Qatar Airways, a member of the oneworld Alliance, is launching two new cobranded Visa credit cards in the United States. The airline has set up a waitlist for prospective applicants, offering up to 10,000 bonus Avios for early registrants. This new initiative provides residents of the US an exciting opportunity to accumulate Avios frequent flyer miles.
The airline has announced two versions of the credit card, which are expected to launch in early May. Interested individuals can join the waitlist to receive additional Avios beyond the standard sign-up bonus. The waitlist offers 5,000 extra bonus Avios for the Visa Signature variant and 10,000 extra bonus Avios for the Visa Infinite version, subject to approval within 30 days of launch and meeting the minimum spending requirements.
These new cards, issued in partnership with Cardless, will add to the existing Avios-earning cobranded credit cards in the US, which are currently offered by Chase. The new Qatar Airways cards will offer benefits for frequent travelers, including opportunities to earn additional Avios and enhance airline status.
The credit cards primarily target frequent travelers with Qatar Airways, oneworld carriers, and codeshare partners. The introduction provides an additional option for US-based customers to earn Avios, which is a versatile air miles currency used by several airlines, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, and Finnair. The new cards will benefit travelers who frequently use these airlines and those looking to maximize their Avios earnings.
In anticipation of the launch, customers can join the Qatar Airways Privilege Club for free and sign up for the waitlist to be among the first to hear about the new product. Qatar Airways has a substantial presence in the US and maintains codeshare agreements with major airlines, including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue.
