Remote Work Integration on the Rise During American Vacations
Over half of employed Americans surveyed admitted they've taken advantage of the opportunity to work remotely during their vacation, with nearly a third doing so without informing their employers. But why mix work with leisure? For many, it's simply a love for what they do, while others do it to meet important work deadlines or to save on paid time off.
Interestingly, almost half of the respondents have turned their business trips into full-fledged vacations. Commissioned by Mews and conducted by OnePoll, the study also shows that the majority of working Americans (one-fourth) are open to working remotely from their hotel rooms.
While most prefer the comfort of their room, a significant number wouldn't mind working by the pool or spa or even in the hotel bar or restaurant. The study indicates a rapid growth in enthusiasm for travel, with travelers and hotel workers agreeing that Americans are paying more attention to travel this year compared to the past.
In fact, many are already planning multiple trips for the year, with an average of no less than 11 trips in 2024. However, it's not just leisure travelers preparing for trips; hotel workers anticipate an increase in business and "bleisure" trips.
Hotels are ready to meet these diverse needs, expecting guests to use technology more than ever before. Keyless room entry, smart home devices, mobile room entry, and digital ordering are among the technological features desired by guests.
According to Ryan Krukar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Gravity Haus, leveraging technology allows hotels to personalize guest experiences, creating unforgettable moments that linger long after checkout.
But it's not just travelers frequenting hotels; locals are also drawn to hotel amenities, seeking access to pools, restaurants, gyms, and more. Local residents are discovering the benefits of hotel facilities even without an overnight stay, often using hotel services for relaxation and entertainment. This contributes to expanding the audience for hotel services and increasing popularity among the local population.
