Room at the bottom of the mine: Welcome to the world's deepest hotel
The hospitality industry never ceases to amaze the world with new concepts and strange ideas. This hotel, which allows guests to sleep at the bottom of a mine, recently opened in the UK and is touted as the deepest hotel in the world.
And we're not kidding! Here's everything about this unique accommodation, which has already been booked by many people, NewsBytes writes.
Hotel at a depth of 400 metres
It is located under the mountains of Snowdonia. Built at the bottom of a Victorian mine, at a depth of about 400 metres, the Deep Sleep Hotel is located under the Snowdonia Mountains in North Wales.
The rooms are built at a huge depth of 419 metres and include four separate cabins with two single beds and a grotto with a double bed. This property is only available for booking from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.
Getting to the hotel
Getting to this unique vacation spot is not easy at all. According to reports, once you reach the Tanygrisiau base near Blaenau Ffestiniog, you will be accompanied by a trip leader who will take you on a 45-minute hike through the mountains and finally drop you off at the hotel. During the hike, you will be provided with a safety rope, boots, helmet and flashlight.
How to get down to the room
A set of ancient stairs, bridges, and manholes will lead you to a deep and quiet corridor. As you descend deeper and deeper into the mine, your trekking guide will introduce you to the history of the place. It will take you about 60 minutes to go down before you finally find yourself in front of a large steel door. Welcome to the hotel!
Amenities
You will be greeted with a warm drink, complimentary snacks (meat, vegan and vegetarian options available) which you can enjoy at our large covered picnic table. Afterwards, you can go to your bed and fall into a very deep sleep," the information section on the hotel's website says.
What is the route back to the surface
"Wake up at 8:00 a.m. and have a warm drink and a simple breakfast before starting the long climb to the surface and returning to daylight again. Your group can expect to return to the cars around 10-10:30 a.m.," the website says.
How much will a room cost per night
A private cabin costs £350 per night, while the grotto, which is ideal for couples, costs £550, according to the website.
"Guests who have stayed there have been delighted. They love its uniqueness, the party atmosphere and the sense of being away from civilization," Mike Morris, the hotel's operations manager, told the Daily Star. "The main observation was the ability to get a great night's sleep! Guests said they slept better than they would have at home and that it was the best sleep of their lives."
