Safety guarantees: flights in Europe are the safest in the world
Flights in Europe have been recognized as the safest since statistics have been recorded. According to a study by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), in 2023, the "all accidents" rate improved to 0.48 accidents per million sectors.
At the same time, in 2022, this figure was 0.98, and for 5 years it remained at the level of 0.77 accidents per million. This was reported by Euronews.
According to the report, since 2018, the risk of aviation-related fatalities in Europe has been zero. In addition, it is noted that the vast majority of reported accidents were related to landing gear failure.
According to Willie Walsh, IATA Director General, despite this excellent result, the global air transportation industry still has work to do to ensure the safety of its passengers.
"Improving safety and preventing future airline accidents is the result of learning from past incidents. For airlines, this means cultivating a strong safety culture where every employee feels accountable for safety and is motivated and expected to report safety-related information," said Willie Walsh.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that short-haul flights will be reduced in Spain.
