Sardinia Unveils Nude Wedding Destination on Is Benas Beach
Sardinia, known for its stunning natural beauty, is taking a bold step in embracing naturism with the introduction of nude weddings on its shores. The picturesque Is Benas beach, nestled halfway along Sardinia’s western coast, is poised to become a sought-after venue for couples looking to tie the knot au naturel, following the decision by local authorities to permit weddings on the nudist-friendly beach.
The initiative stemmed from a query by a German couple inquiring about the possibility of exchanging vows on the beach, which has boasted a designated naturist area for the past two years, revealed Luigi Tedeschi, the mayor of San Vero Milis, the nearest town. While some may find the notion of nude nuptials amusing, Tedeschi emphasized a more profound motive behind the move - amidst rising nationalist sentiments in Europe, he stressed the importance of championing individual freedom.
He clarified that the central portion of Is Benas beach has long been frequented by naturists, and his decision merely formalized this practice to uphold the right to freedom. He underscored that nudity, for naturists, embodies a lifestyle philosophy intertwined with nature and devoid of sexual connotations.
The mayor's vision extends beyond Is Benas; he envisions establishing a network of naturist beaches across Sardinia, aiming to attract a discerning and respectful type of tourism while preserving the island's pristine environment. Regarding attire for the nude ceremonies, Tedeschi affirmed that couples are free to dress as they please, emphasizing the principle of individual liberty as paramount.
