SAS Expands Connectivity to Scandinavian Winter Destinations
SAS is expanding its winter services with new direct routes to key Scandinavian destinations. Responding to increased demand, SAS will offer five new routes to Tromsø, Kiruna, Rovaniemi, and the Scandinavian Mountains Airport Sälen-Trysil.
These new routes will enable more travelers to experience popular winter activities such as skiing, dog sledding, and viewing the northern lights. SAS already serves Scandinavian Mountains Airport from Copenhagen and Aalborg during the winter and will now include additional routes from Aarhus and London Heathrow. Moreover, three new seasonal routes will be introduced: Copenhagen to Finnish Rovaniemi, Copenhagen to Swedish Kiruna, and London to Norwegian Tromsø.
To further enhance connectivity, SAS is adding more flights to existing routes from Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm to destinations such as Tromsø, Longyearbyen/Svalbard, Luleå, and Åre-Östersund. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing number of Europeans traveling to Northern Scandinavia during the winter season. SAS's Chief Revenue Officer, Erik Westman, emphasized the significance of increasing departures to this region.
In addition to winter destinations, SAS is increasing flights to warmer locations like Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Agadir for Scandinavians seeking sunshine. Bangkok will see a rise in flights from Copenhagen, with four weekly flights increasing to five in late December and daily flights from late January to early March. The US program will also expand, featuring daily flights from Copenhagen to Los Angeles and Boston, and double daily flights to New York (JFK and Newark).
Furthermore, SAS maintains its focus on European ski destinations such as Zürich, Genève, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Milan, and Munich, particularly during the holiday season. This comprehensive expansion ensures that SAS meets the diverse travel needs of its passengers, offering more options for both winter sports enthusiasts and those seeking warmer escapes.
