SAS Launches New Direct Route from Copenhagen to Atlanta
To address the increasing demand for travel between Scandinavia and the United States, SAS has added a new destination to its North American network. Starting June 17, SAS will offer daily nonstop flights from Copenhagen to Atlanta, providing travelers with a new direct route to the U.S.
Atlanta, a city rich in cultural experiences, historic landmarks, and a diverse culinary scene, is an attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, handling nearly 104 million passengers in 2023, is the world's busiest airport. From September 1, 2024, SAS will join the SkyTeam alliance, with Atlanta serving as a major hub for Delta Air Lines. This partnership will enhance connectivity for SAS customers, offering access to over 1,060 destinations through the SkyTeam network.
SAS Chief Commercial Officer Paul Verhagen expressed excitement about expanding options for travelers. He emphasized that leisure travelers can explore Atlanta and other U.S. destinations easily, while business travelers will benefit from Atlanta's status as a hub for numerous Fortune 500 companies. Delta’s E.V.P. & President – International, Alain Bellemare, highlighted that this collaboration will strengthen Delta's presence in Northern Europe and improve access for Delta customers.
The new route will be serviced by Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft, featuring three travel classes: SAS Business, SAS Plus, and SAS Go. This expansion marks a significant step in building future cooperation between SAS and Delta Air Lines.
