Saudia Introduces AlUla FM on Inflight Entertainment System
Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has recently added AlUla FM to its inflight entertainment options. This inclusion makes AlUla FM the first radio station available on Saudia flights, offering passengers a new way to experience Saudi culture and heritage during their travels.
The integration of AlUla FM into Saudia's Beyond entertainment system comes as part of a partnership with the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). This agreement allows Saudia passengers to access a range of cultural content, promoting a deeper understanding of the region's historical and cultural significance.
The availability of AlUla FM on Saudia flights aims to enrich the passenger experience by providing a unique auditory journey into the heart of Saudi Arabia. The content is designed to complement the visual and interactive offerings already available through the Beyond system, which features up to 5,000 hours of programming across multiple languages.
While the move represents a strategic alignment with Saudi Vision 2030’s cultural objectives, it also raises questions about the balance between cultural promotion and the commercialization of national heritage in inflight entertainment.
For travelers, the introduction of AlUla FM offers an educational and engaging option to immerse themselves in Saudi stories and traditions, potentially enhancing their overall travel experience and understanding of the Kingdom's rich cultural landscape.
