Second United Airlines Flight from San Francisco to Rome Diverted Again
Last night, another United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Rome was forced to make an emergency landing, this time in Edmonton, Canada. United Airlines Flight 507 departed from San Francisco at 4:30 PM local time and, according to flight tracking data, turned around over northern Canada, near Hudson Bay.
This incident is concerning, as less than 24 hours earlier, another United Airlines flight on the same route was forced to make an emergency landing at Sacramento International Airport. The previous incident was due to mechanical issues with the right engine of the Boeing 777. Footage captured from a helicopter shows the crew inspecting the engine.
It is notable that both flights were on the same route, used the same model of aircraft, the Boeing 777, and had the same flight number — 507. It is currently unknown whether any passengers from the earlier flight, which was diverted to Sacramento, were on board the flight that was redirected to Edmonton.
United Airlines has yet to provide an official statement regarding the causes of this latest incident and the condition of the aircraft. The situation is under close scrutiny, and passengers are awaiting clarification from the airline.
