Special Bus Service Supports Major Running Event in Portsmouth
First Solent, in collaboration with Portsmouth City Council, has introduced a dedicated Park & Ride bus service for the highly anticipated race, set to take place in the middle of October. The PR4 route will be operational over the weekend, offering direct shuttle services from the Tipner Park & Ride station to Clarence Pier in Southsea. This arrangement aims to offer smooth transportation for both runners and event attendees.
Following the race, participants will be granted free travel across a number of First Solent bus routes, as well as the HoverBus. To access this free ride, runners need to show their medals to the driver. This initiative is intended to ease transportation during one of the busiest weekends in Portsmouth, reducing traffic strain across the city’s streets.
The running event spans a total of ten miles, drawing in thousands of athletes and spectators every year. The course takes runners past well-known sites in Portsmouth, including the Historic Dockyard and the Southsea coastline. For tourists, this race offers an excellent chance to experience the city’s lively environment while admiring its ocean views and cultural points of interest.
For visitors, traveling around Portsmouth during the race can be challenging due to the influx of participants and their supporters. The PR4 Park & Ride option offers a convenient alternative to driving, providing a stress-free way to explore the region without the hassle of traffic or parking. This service enhances the experience by offering an easier way for visitors to move around while taking part in the weekend’s activities.
The free transport for participants is an added advantage, motivating more people to join in and discover the city after the event. This is particularly beneficial for those planning to stay in Portsmouth afterward, as they can continue exploring local attractions without any additional travel expenses.
For tourists, the PR4 service offers a more effective and comfortable way to experience Portsmouth during this major race. Not only does it help visitors access the event easily, but it also promotes a convenient and enjoyable way to navigate the city, making it an ideal solution for anyone attending or visiting during the race weekend.
