Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) handled a total of 37.2 million passengers in 2023, up 35.3% from 2022. According to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), 32.7 million of the 37.2 million travelers were domestic passengers, while 4.5 million traveled internationally.
This was reported by The Indian Express.
The record-breaking day for airport employees was April 29, 2023. It was then that the largest number of passengers in one day of that year was recorded - 116,688 travelers.
The airport claims that this is due to several factors. These include reduced travel restrictions, improved economic conditions, and increased demand for leisure and business travel.
"These figures reflect the positive dynamics in the aviation sector, showing a gradual return to pre-pandemic travel," BIAL said.
