TAP Air Portugal Launches In-Flight Film Festival
TAP Air Portugal has announced the launch of its first in-flight film festival, the Altitude Film Fest. This unique event aims to enhance the travel experience by offering an exclusive selection of films to passengers, while simultaneously promoting Portuguese culture and traditions. Applications for the festival are open until June 30, 2024, and participation is free.
The Altitude Film Fest will allow passengers to enjoy a curated collection of films during their flights, providing a novel entertainment option at 30,000 feet. Filmmakers worldwide are invited to compete in two categories: documentary and fiction short films, with a specific focus on Portuguese culture or locations.
A panel of judges, comprising notable figures from the film industry, will select ten finalists in each category. These films will be featured on TAP's long-haul flights in October 2024, where passengers can view and vote for their favorites via the in-flight entertainment system. This voting will account for 60% of the final score, with the remaining 40% determined by the official jury.
The winners of the Altitude Film Fest will be announced on World Cinema Day, November 5, 2024, during a ceremony in Lisbon. The top films in both categories will receive a travel grant of 3,000 euros each, intended to support filmmakers in exploring new creative opportunities around the globe. This initiative not only celebrates cinematic excellence but also aims to inspire new artistic endeavors.
