TAP’s Stopover Program Boosts Portugal Travel in 2023
TAP Air Portugal’s Stopover program has been named the world’s best for the sixth consecutive year by Global Traveler magazine at the 12th Leisure Lifestyle Awards in Philadelphia, USA.
In 2023, 214,000 travelers took advantage of a free stopover of up to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto as part of their journey. Notably, 20 percent of these travelers were from the United States.
The most popular final destinations for American Stopover customers included Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome. Additionally, Funchal and Ponta Delgada ranked among the top 10 destinations for Americans. TAP also offers a second stopover in Portugal with a 25 percent discount on domestic flights.

Global Traveler magazine annually honors the best in leisure and lifestyle travel, based on a survey of over 817,000 readers conducted between July 2023 and March 2024. TAP’s award was accepted by Fernanda Ottavio and Katherine Soares.
