Telegram to be suspended in one of the European countries: many complaints
The use of Telegram in Spain will be temporarily suspended starting Monday at the request of media companies such as Atresmedia, EGEDA, Mediaset and Telefonica. The decision was prompted by the need to address issues related to the content and control provided by the popular internet platform.
According to the CNMC antitrust authority, Telegram ranks fourth among the most used messaging services in the country. Reuters reports how long the popular messenger will be suspended.
The Spanish High Court of Justice has ordered the suspension of the popular instant messaging platform Telegram starting Monday, March 25. Media companies reportedly complained that their materials were being used on Telegram without their consent in violation of copyright.
It was decided to block the application while the lawsuits filed by Atresmedia, EGEDA, Mediaset and Telefonica are being investigated. According to media reports, mobile operators will be responsible for blocking Telegram services.
It is not known how long the text, photo and video messaging platform will be down. It is noted that about 19% of Spanish residents use this application, which was created by Russian entrepreneur Pavel Durov.
