Have you ever heard of the picturesque British town of Buxton? It is the coldest and highest market town in England. It is also known for organizing various festivals and celebrations all year round. For example, the annual Buxton Festival, performances at the Buxton Opera House, as well as shows taking place in other venues nearby, the Four Four Time Weekly Music Festival, and even the Buxton Well Dressing Festival, which lasts for a week until the second Saturday in July.

Buxton was included in the list of the 10 most popular cities published by Time Out travel magazine. It praises its "historical charm", which is especially revealed during the celebrations. The Manchester Evening News writes about this and tells how the holiday season is going.

Buxton: where to go and what to visit

Peace can be found in the renovated Pavilion Gardens. There are 23 acres of landscaped gardens and playgrounds with lawns, duck ponds, a family café and a shop.

There are also many independent shops and High Street stores for retail shopping, including Springs Shopping Centre, Cavendish Arcade and The Old Court House.

For a bite to eat, there is a great selection of cafes, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, making it the perfect day out or weekend for a change of scenery.

Dave Bluff, owner of Sew-In, said, "It's a lively city that gets a lot of visitors. It has most of the things people want to see; there are plenty of interesting shops, an opera house, gardens and festivals."

Buxton Festival Fringe

This is a traditional annual outdoor arts festival that takes place in July. It hosts comedy, theatre, dance, music, street performances, movies, talks and shows for children, as well as other improvised events. This is Buxton's trump card and the main event that attracts hundreds of tourists.
