The railway industry and the well-known presenter are jointly inspiring journeys rooted in musical history
Thanks to the assistance and recognizable voice of Jo Whiley, train passengers can now listen to 30 audio guides specially designed for different cities, inspiring them to embark on a journey and explore music scenes of the past and present. Railway passengers will be provided with insider information about their favorite songs, music genres, and performers from Britain, thanks to a unique initiative from the railway industry.
New research has shown that the country is at risk of losing its connection with its rich musical history. One in five Britons do not know that The Beatles are from Liverpool, and 60% do not know that Grime originated in London.
Despite the fact that Britain has produced many of the world's most famous musicians, many Britons still do not know the origins of their favorite bands, songs, and genres. In order to get Britons' knowledge back on track and to engage more people in exploring the musical roots of Britain, the railway industry is collaborating with Jo Whiley to create a series of short audio guides telling the stories of British music scenes of the past and present.
Train users will be able to receive geographically targeted stories through a free app to help them turn their journey into a musical heritage tour of Britain. By listening to them, listeners will learn everything from the origins of genres to the places that helped shape and influence some of Britain's most popular performers and bands.
The railway industry is helping people uncover the stories associated with the places they travel to or pass through, planning their next journey. The audio guides are designed to inspire journeys rooted in musical history – because nothing beats being there when it comes to enjoying the music we love.
