The woman who was fleeing the crisis in Haiti gave birth to a child on a Mexican airline
Wilene Toulous, a 42-year-old Haitian woman, gave birth to a baby on a flight from Mexico City to the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez. The event took place on March 15 on board Aeroméxico flight 113.
The woman and her 40-year-old husband traveled to the border region with the United States in search of asylum after a wave of violence hit Haiti. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
It is reported that the woman's contractions began about 20 minutes after the start of the flight. One of the passengers, Dr. Leticia Olivares, assisted Wilene during childbirth, so the baby was born without any problems.
Subsequently, the mother and the newborn child were treated by paramedics from the Abraham González Airport in Ciudad Juárez, after which they were taken to separate medical institutions in the state of Chihuahua for treatment. Toulous was discharged from the hospital the next day and reunited with her child.
