Translink Expands Airport Bus Services for Summer Travelers
Translink has announced additional bus services to Belfast International Airport to ease the travel experience for passengers during the peak summer period. This expansion includes an extra 2,400 seats weekly on the Airport Express 300 service, with buses running every 12 minutes during peak hours from Monday to Friday.
From the Belfast Europa Bus Centre, buses will depart five times an hour between 6 am and 9:30 am and again during the evening peak from 4 pm to 6 pm, offering more flexibility for travelers. This schedule aims to accommodate the increased number of passengers traveling during these busy times.
David Cowan, Translink’s Director of Commercial Operations, highlighted the benefits for travelers, stating that the Airport Express Service provides a comfortable, hassle-free, and affordable way to reach Belfast International Airport. This is particularly advantageous for those seeking a stress-free start to their holiday, ensuring that passengers can travel without the worry of finding parking or dealing with traffic.
To further accommodate families, Translink has introduced a special summer family ticket for the Airport Express 300 service. Priced at £28.50, the family return ticket is valid for two adults and up to three children, with children under five traveling for free. Additional children under 16 will be charged £4.50 each, making it a cost-effective option for family travel. This initiative is designed to make family holidays more accessible and affordable, encouraging more people to use public transport.
Translink also continues to operate services to Belfast International Airport from Antrim Bus and Rail Centre. For travelers from the North-West, a seamless connection is available via train from all stops between the North-West Transport Hub and Antrim, linking with the frequent 109A service. This integrated transport option ensures that passengers from different regions can easily reach the airport without the need for a car.
Dan Owens, chief executive of Belfast International Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the enhanced services. With over 150 daily services to and from the airport, travelers can enjoy an affordable and efficient travel option this summer. Owens mentioned that the airport is gearing up for one of its busiest periods, expecting around 1.5 million passengers in the coming months. To ensure a smooth experience, additional staff have been hired to manage the increased number of travelers, providing assistance and support throughout the airport.
Translink’s airport bus services will operate from 1 am to 10:30 pm from the Belfast Europa Bus Centre, and from 1:50 am to 11:30 pm from Belfast International Airport, providing extensive coverage for early morning and late-night flights. This extended service schedule ensures that passengers can catch their flights at any time of the day or night, making travel more convenient.
