Travel recommendations may come within the Apple Maps app
Currently, Apple heavily relies on third-party services such as Yelp and Wikipedia to provide descriptions of businesses and points of interest within Apple Maps. Apple's expanded editorial involvement was hinted at in a (now deleted) job listing for an Apple Maps writer/editor position in California on social media.
The job listing for "Product Manager - Maps, Writer/Editor" in Culver City, California, indicates that the individual will "assist in creating and expanding a completely new category of content for the Apple Maps team," according to reports from macdailynews.com.
The individual in this position will be tasked with generating content to assist users in exploring their local community or destinations they wish to visit. "Apple seeks an individual to aid in producing engaging and compelling editorial content to assist Maps users in exploring their surroundings," the job description states.
