Turkish Airlines and KM Malta Forge Landmark Codeshare Pact
Turkish Airlines and KM Malta Airlines have announced a new codeshare agreement, effective from June 15, 2024. This partnership will see the two flag carriers operate joint flights between Istanbul and Malta, offering passengers increased travel flexibility and connectivity.
The agreement enables KM Malta Airlines to place its marketing flight numbers on Turkish Airlines flights between Istanbul and Malta. This collaboration will allow passengers to book flights under either airline's banner, streamlining travel between the two destinations.
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership, highlighting the enhanced cooperation between Türkiye and Malta. He emphasized that the agreement will not only facilitate seamless journeys for passengers from both countries but also promote tourism. Ekşi noted the potential for Turkish Airlines' extensive global network to benefit Maltese travelers and attract more visitors to both destinations.
David G. Curmi, Executive Chairman of KM Malta Airlines, also praised the codeshare partnership, stating that Istanbul, as a major hub, offers significant connectivity for Maltese travelers. Curmi highlighted that the agreement demonstrates KM Malta Airlines' recognition as a valued partner by major international carriers, enhancing travel options for both local and international customers.
