UK Issues New Travel Warning for Tourists Heading to France
The UK Foreign Office has issued a new travel warning for anyone planning a trip to France. Disruptions to flights and ferries are expected due to upcoming industrial action. Travelers are advised to stay informed and prepare for potential changes to their travel plans.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised travelers to be prepared for potential disruptions throughout June, as industrial action by port workers and air traffic control unions could impact ferry routes and flights across France. The FCDO stated, "Throughout June, planned industrial action by port workers and air traffic control unions is expected to disrupt some ferry routes and flights across France, with some routes and flights diverted or cancelled. Check your operator's advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting flights."
In addition to transport disruptions, the FCDO warns of possible strikes affecting the Paris public transport system until September. Travelers should check the RATP website for live service updates to avoid any inconvenience. The ongoing industrial action could significantly affect daily commutes and travel plans within the city.
For those planning to visit EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, or Vatican City, it is crucial to ensure that passports meet the Schengen area requirements. Passports must be issued less than 10 years before the date of entry and valid for at least three months after the planned departure date. Travelers are advised to verify their passports before travel. If there are any doubts regarding the validity of their passports, especially if issued before October 1, 2018, they should consult the French Embassy in the UK. By following these guidelines and staying informed, travelers can better prepare for their trips and minimize potential disruptions.
