Vietjet Adds Airbus A320 Family and A330 Flights for Summer Peak
Vietjet is significantly ramping up its domestic and international capacity for the summer season, adding 1.4 million seats and expanding routes to Australia and Taiwan. This move aims to meet the soaring demand during the peak travel period.
A Lot of Extra Seats for Summer
Vietjet is providing an additional 1.4 million domestic seats, representing a 35% increase in capacity. The expansion includes existing routes from major hubs such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nha Trang, as well as new routes between provincial cities. Additionally, the number of night flights will increase by 46%, adding 3,100 extra services from hubs like Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City to provinces such as Hai Phong, Vinh, and Thanh Hoa.
Vietjet's fleet, comprising 103 Airbus aircraft (including 17 A320-200s, 36 A321-200s, 25 A321neos, and seven A330-300s), will be fully utilized to accommodate this increase. Thai Vietjet, with 18 Airbus aircraft, will support the expanded operations.
More A330s to Australia
Vietjet is also launching new international services, including four new nonstop routes starting in June. The airline's bright red Airbus A330s, which began flying to Australia last year, will now connect Hanoi Noi Bai Airport (HAN) to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and Melbourne Airport (MEL).
The Hanoi-Sydney route will commence on June 8 with twice-weekly flights, departing Hanoi on Wednesdays and Saturdays and returning from Sydney on Thursdays and Sundays. The Hanoi-Melbourne route will start on June 3 with flights departing Hanoi on Mondays and Fridays and returning from Melbourne on Tuesdays and Saturdays. With these additions, Vietjet will operate seven routes between Vietnam and Australia.
And A321s to Taiwan
In time for summer, Vietjet is adding more Airbus A321 flights to Taiwan. New nonstop services will connect Phu Quoc to Taichung and Kaohsiung, making Vietjet the only airline offering direct flights from Phu Quoc to Taiwan. The Phu Quoc-Taichung service will begin on June 13 with three weekly flights, while the Kaohsiung-Phu Quoc route will start on June 14 with four weekly flights.
These routes expand Vietjet's Vietnam-Taiwan connections to nine destinations. International visitors to Phu Quoc can benefit from a visa exemption scheme allowing a visa-free stay for up to 30 days.
Passengers can book these routes on Vietjet's website or mobile app, with promotional $0 fares available on Fridays for flights until December 31, 2024. Additionally, the airline is offering a 'Fly daily, win daily with Vietjet' program with prizes worth up to VND6 billion ($235,000) for SkyJoy loyalty members booking by August 7, 2024.
