What does the resort in Albania with stunning beaches, called the "European Maldives" look like
The city of the same name on the shores of the Gulf of Vlora in the Adriatic Sea is often called a European alternative to the Maldives. However, a vacation in the Indian Ocean will cost much more than in the south of Albania.
In addition, it is much easier to fly to Vlora from the UK or any corner of Europe than to the Maldives. According to a study by Booking.com, in 2024, the picturesque town will become a popular destination for beach vacations due to its affordable prices, Express writes.
Vlora offers stunning ocean views, a pleasant climate, clear water, and perfect beaches, but it is somewhat cheaper than the Maldives.
"The glittering coastline, home to some of Albania's most beautiful beaches, offers visitors a European answer to the Maldives - a desirable option for 43% of UK travelers who will be looking for a luxury-free vacation to keep costs down," the statement said.
Vlora has other advantages. For example, its distance from most tourist destinations in Albania. The nearest airport is just over two hours away by car in the Albanian capital, Tirana. This means that many travelers do not make it to Vlora.
However, if the distance doesn't intimidate you, there are cheap flight options from the UK to Albania - in some cases for less than £70 per person one way.
In the country, you can rent a car, take a bus, or stay overnight in the capital at a low cost. For example, according to the publication, there is accommodation in Tirana for £20.
Tourists can stay in hotels, of which there are many, or rent accommodation on Airbnb at reasonable prices.
The resort itself also has reasonable prices. For example, a night's stay at the four-star Central View Boutique Hotel, 600 meters from the beach, will cost 44 pounds per night, while the Serene Stay Apartments will cost just 16 pounds.
