Starting September 2, Transdev York & Country will expand its bus network in York, introducing new routes and services. The expansion includes the extension of routes 24 and 25, which will now connect the Germany Beck development in Fulford to the city center. These changes, commissioned by City of York Council, aim to improve transportation for residents and visitors alike, providing better access to key areas of the city.

The bus service expansion is expected to significantly benefit travelers, particularly those visiting York for its historical sites and attractions. With more frequent services and direct routes from residential areas like Germany Beck to the city center, tourists can easily access popular destinations such as York Minster, the Shambles, and various museums. This development ensures smoother travel across the city, making it more convenient for visitors who prefer public transport over driving.

Additionally, the fully restored route 19, covering Skelton, Rawcliffe, and Clifton, enhances connectivity to lesser-known but picturesque parts of York, offering tourists a chance to explore more of the region. For those looking to venture further, route 20 provides convenient access to shopping destinations such as Clifton Moor and Monks Cross, as well as the quaint village of Haxby, known for its local markets and countryside walks. These improved connections open up more diverse experiences for visitors, enabling them to explore both urban and rural highlights of the area without relying on private vehicles.

The new routes also align with York’s broader strategy to promote sustainable travel options, reducing the need for cars and easing congestion in central areas. Visitors staying in local accommodations can now plan their trips more efficiently with reliable and frequent bus services. These changes make it easier to visit York’s attractions while supporting the city’s environmental goals.

For those considering a visit to York, these improvements present new opportunities to experience the city without relying on private transport. Whether planning to explore historic landmarks or discover hidden gems in surrounding neighborhoods, the extended bus network offers a more eco-friendly and cost-effective way to navigate the city.
