14 passengers on Emirates injured due to severe turbulence en route to Dubai
An Emirates A380 airplane encountered severe turbulence, leading to 14 passengers hitting the walls and ceiling. Flight EK421 departed from Perth Airport (PER) to Dubai International Airport (DXB), but the journey turned out to be traumatic.
The incident occurred as the travelers were approaching Dubai late at night. According to the airline, both passengers and crew members sustained injuries, as reported by Simple Flying.
Some passengers reportedly hit the cabin ceiling, and 14 individuals required medical attention. An eyewitness mentioned that the turbulence hit suddenly, catching some passengers off guard without their seat belts fastened.
Another passenger shared that the pilot instructed everyone to return to their seats and fasten their seat belts before the turbulence began.
The airline's spokesperson stated, "We can confirm that flight EK421 from Perth to Dubai on December 4 briefly experienced unexpected turbulence mid-flight."
Some injured passengers received treatment while still in the air. The crew received assistance from qualified medical professionals who guided satellite.
The aircraft landed safely at approximately 04:45 local time, and a team of doctors, along with the Emirates staff, was already at the airport to assist those in need.
