A 14-year-old girl was unexpectedly removed from a Porter Airlines flight on August 30, leaving her stranded without supervision or compensation. The incident occurred while Camryn Larkan was flying alone from Toronto to her home in Victoria, British Columbia, after a family visit. Despite being seated and ready for takeoff, she was asked to leave the plane due to a weight imbalance, which led to her being left behind for 24 hours.

Porter Airlines later clarified that the removal was caused by a "weight and balance issue," and that their team did not realize Camryn was a minor. The family, however, remains outraged by the lack of supervision and information provided to their daughter, who was traveling without having purchased the airline's unaccompanied minor service.

Camryn's parents are now urging Porter Airlines to reconsider their policy, especially for minors aged 12 and older, as they believe their daughter was put at risk. They argue that the airline should provide additional care for teenagers traveling alone, even if they haven’t purchased the special service. Porter Airlines, in response, acknowledged the situation and is reviewing ways to prevent such incidents in the future.

This incident highlights concerns about how airlines handle unaccompanied minors and raises questions about the level of service and attention provided to young travelers. Camryn Larkan’s story has sparked discussions on the importance of better protection for minors in similar situations.
