India is an incredible country with stunning natural beauty. From the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas and the lush forests of the Western Ghats to the tropical coasts and exotic islands, the nature of India is simply breathtaking. The country is home to a variety of landscapes, flora and fauna, making it a paradise for nature lovers.

One of the best ways to enjoy the beauty of India is to see its waterfalls. This will give you the chance to plunge into the tranquility and freshness of the surrounding landscapes," writes NewsBytes.

Jog Falls, Karnataka

One of the most recognizable waterfalls in India is Jog Falls, which is located in the dense forests of the Western Ghats. This is the second-highest waterfall in the country, which falls rapidly from a height of 253 meters (830 feet). The turbulent streams of the Sharavati River roar down the cliffs during the monsoon season, creating a mesmerizing sight that attracts tourists from all over.

Chitrakote Waterfall, Chhattisgarh

Called the "Niagara Falls of India," this waterfall is located in Bastar in Chhattisgarh. The Indravati River plunges 30 meters into a narrow gorge to create these waterfalls, which are the widest in all of India. When visiting Chitrakote, don't miss the historic temple in Narayanpal and the Adivasi haats in Bastar to experience the true tribal flavor.

Athirappilly Falls, Kerala

This waterfall, located in the Thrissur district of Kerala, is 24 meters (80 feet) high, making it one of the highest waterfalls in the country. Located in the Western Ghats, these waterfalls fall with tremendous force, creating a spectacular show of water spray and mist. Surrounded by green jungle, Athirappally offers a picturesque hideaway for outdoor enthusiasts and photographers.

Hogenakkal Waterfalls, Tamil Nadu

The Hogenakkal Falls are located 46 km from the city of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. This waterfall is wide and has a horseshoe shape. It is one of the highest waterfalls in India. These waterfalls are known both for their therapeutic baths and for riding on corals - round boats that have been used for river navigation in South India since ancient times.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Goa

The stunning Dudhsagar Waterfall is located on the Mandovi River on the border between the states of Goa and Karnataka. The name of the waterfall, which translates as "sea of milk", perfectly reflects its appearance: milky white streams fall from a multi-tiered structure amid lush vegetation. During the monsoon, when the water flow reaches its highest level, this is the best time to experience the grandeur of the waterfall.
