The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, is launching a large-scale development program aimed at turning the city into a tourist paradise. 144 new infrastructure projects worth a total of £12 billion have been approved.

The improvements will cover housing, education, tourism, and natural resources. According to the Express, Abu Dhabi aims to lure as many visitors as possible and compete for the championship with Dubai, which is currently the leader in the UAE in terms of the number of tourists.

Abu Dhabi intends to position itself as a more family-friendly city, as opposed to the glamorous, noisy and youthful Dubai. Those who want to spend a quiet and safe vacation will be invited there.

Tourism experts note that Abu Dhabi is already becoming an increasingly popular destination due to its mild climate, picturesque beaches, rich culture, and diverse entertainment.

Travelers are also attracted by its lower traffic congestion than in Dubai. For many seasons now, visitors to the country have been advised to choose this city for sightseeing and beach vacations.

As previously reported by TravelWise, the new Anantara Santorini Abu Dhabi is opening its doors on the coast near Dubai.
