A New Take on Tea Time in Paris with a Korean Twist
Tea time is not just about traditional English scones and sandwiches anymore. Nari Kim, named the best pastry chef of 2024 by the Go Ando food guide, brings a unique blend of cultures and flavors to this cherished British pastime. Originally from South Korea, Nari is the head pastry chef at the prestigious Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, where she recently introduced a completely new approach to this iconic event.
Tea Time with a French and Korean Fusion
Nari Kim has created a tea time experience that is inspired by both French and Korean cultures. The main idea is to blend her childhood memories from Korea with the elegance of French patisserie. Instead of the usual tea sandwiches or scones, guests are treated to an original menu reflecting both worlds.
Nari designed an exquisite box resembling a jewelry case, filled with various biscuits and snacks. Inspired by the luxurious boutiques around Place Vendôme, this box is a true work of art, turning tea time into a real ceremony. Among the delicacies are Korean rice biscuits and French pastries, made with only natural ingredients, without sugar or gluten.
International Flavors
One of the key elements that captivates guests is the traditional Korean snack "Gang," made from rice flour and grains. This gluten-free treat reminds many of their childhood and symbolizes a connection to South Korea's cultural heritage.
The French part of the menu features desserts made with natural potato and chestnut puree, making them not only delicious but also healthy. Nari strives to create unique flavors without adding sugar, making her pastries perfect for those mindful of their diet.
Tea and Herbal Infusions
While tea is traditionally the highlight of tea time, Nari has added her own twist by creating unique herbal infusions in collaboration with tea masters. These infusions pair perfectly with her desserts, enhancing the natural flavors of fruits and chocolate. Every day from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, a tea ceremony combining the traditions of Korea and France is held, offering guests a unique experience they won't soon forget.
