A passenger plane operated by Avion Express with 185 people on board skidded off the runway and rolled through a swamp
An Airbus A320 aircraft operated by the Lithuanian charter airline Avion Express experienced an unsettling moment during its landing at Vilnius airport. Upon landing, the pilots were unable to keep the plane on the intended runway, and it slid into the mud.
The flight, arriving from Bergamo, Italy, had 185 passengers and crew members on board. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident has raised several questions. A video of the Avion Express plane incident surfaced on the social networking platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to the Aviation Safety Network, the aircraft skidded off the runway into the mud before returning to the runway and taxiing to the gate.
Video footage from the scene depicts the A320 losing control of its coordination and veering off the runway. Instead of coming to a stop, the aircraft executed a risky maneuver, returning to the concrete runway.
The cause of the incident is currently unknown, and the damaged aircraft is currently stationed at Vilnius Airport, awaiting a thorough inspection.
Despite not showing visible damage or signs of catching fire, following such a risky excursion beyond the concrete pavement, the aircraft needs to undergo cleaning and a comprehensive check for any potential malfunctions.
