Travelers exploring West Sussex this summer can now enjoy a new and affordable way to get around. For the entire month of August, the "Book-a-Bus" service offers trips for just £1, providing a budget-friendly option for discovering the region's many attractions.

The "Book-a-Bus" service is an on-demand bus network designed to improve transportation in areas of West Sussex with limited public transit. This initiative, part of West Sussex County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan and funded by the Department for Transport, aims to enhance the appeal of bus travel and offer a greener alternative to driving.

This service operates in four key areas across the county, connecting travelers to local towns, other transportation links, and popular visitor spots. The 99 Flex route covers the area south of Petworth, including Chichester and Fittleworth. The 98 Flex serves the northern part of Petworth, including Midhurst and Wisborough Green. The 97 Flex covers Barnham and nearby regions like Arundel and Slindon, while the 96 Flex operates in northwest Chichester, reaching Lavant and Singleton.

For travelers, this service means greater accessibility to the scenic and cultural highlights of West Sussex without the need for a car. The service’s flexibility in pick-up and drop-off points allows tourists to explore areas that might otherwise be difficult to reach, enhancing their travel experience.

Among the attractions accessible via "Book-a-Bus" are the South Downs National Park, known for its stunning walking trails and picturesque landscapes, the historic Arundel Castle, and the charming market town of Chichester, with its beautiful cathedral and array of shops and restaurants. Visitors can also explore the quaint village of Singleton, home to the Weald & Downland Living Museum, and the coastal town of Bognor Regis, perfect for a seaside day out.

To plan your journey, visit West Sussex Book a Bus webpage. The service operates Monday through Saturday, from 7am to 7pm, and can accommodate group bookings of up to five people, subject to availability.
