Air France-KLM and SAS Launch New Codeshare Agreement
Starting September 1, 2024, Air France-KLM and SAS will implement new codeshare and interline agreements, enhancing travel options across Europe. This move coincides with SAS joining the SkyTeam alliance, broadening the reach and connectivity of both airlines.
Under the new agreements, Air France and KLM customers will gain access to 33 additional destinations in Northern Europe via SAS’s hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. In return, SAS customers will be able to travel to 33 European destinations through Air France and KLM’s hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol airports.
For the convenience of passengers traveling with children, the airlines offer priority check-in and boarding services, as well as free transportation of strollers and car seats. These measures are aimed at creating the most comfortable conditions for family travel.
The interline agreement will streamline travel across the combined European network of Air France, KLM, and SAS, providing more convenient flight options. These agreements also include reciprocal loyalty program benefits, allowing customers to earn and spend miles/points through the Flying Blue and EuroBonus programs.
The Chief Commercial Officers of both companies, Angus Clarke from Air France-KLM and Paul Verhagen from SAS, highlighted the strategic importance of these agreements, emphasizing that connecting networks and hubs will not only expand the choice of European destinations and improve service quality for customers, but also strengthen their positions in the Scandinavian market, attract new passengers, and increase SAS's global visibility.
Currently, Air France and KLM operate up to 200 weekly flights between their hubs in Paris and Amsterdam and SAS’s hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm. SAS operates up to 44 weekly flights to Paris and 65 to Amsterdam, further integrating the networks.
