AirAsia Advises Early Check-In and Arrival Ahead of System Upgrade
AirAsia has announced a significant upgrade to its reservation and passenger-processing systems, aimed at enhancing the overall travel and booking experience. This upgrade is scheduled to take place over an eight-hour window, from 7:00 pm (GMT+8) on July 10, 2024, to 3:00 am (GMT+8) on July 11, 2024. To ensure a smooth travel process during this period, AirAsia is advising its passengers to follow specific guidelines.
Passengers are encouraged to complete self check-in through the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly known as the airasia Superapp) up to 14 days before their departure. This is especially crucial for those with group bookings and connecting flights on July 10 and 11. By doing so, travelers can avoid potential delays and complications during the system upgrade.
Additionally, passengers are required to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight. This recommendation is particularly important for those with special needs, reduced mobility, or group bookings, as the system upgrade will impact counter and kiosk check-in as well as baggage drop services at all airports where AirAsia operates.
To facilitate a smoother boarding process, passengers are advised to download their e-Boarding Pass from the AirAsia MOVE app and save it on their mobile device. This eliminates the need to reprint boarding passes at the airport, streamlining the boarding experience.
AirAsia also emphasizes the importance of updating contact details. Affected travelers will receive notifications about their flight status via email and SMS, ensuring they remain informed throughout the upgrade period.
During the upgrade, certain services, including flight bookings, check-in, manage booking, Flight+Hotel booking, AirAsia Rewards points issuance and redemption, payment gateway for existing bookings, and ancillary purchases (like online duty-free shopping), will be unavailable. However, other services on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com, unrelated to AirAsia flights, will remain operational.
By adhering to these guidelines, AirAsia passengers can help ensure a seamless travel experience despite the temporary system upgrade.
