The UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reports that nearly half of all passengers planning to travel this summer believe that airports and airlines are prepared for the busy season. A recent survey revealed that 45% of consumers are confident in the industry's readiness, despite the ongoing challenges from the previous year's disruptions.

However, the survey, which questioned passengers about their travel experiences, also showed that 40% of respondents had faced some form of disruption over the last 12 months. The most common issues were flight delays, affecting 31% of those surveyed, followed by 13% experiencing cancellations and 9% facing the impact of strikes or lost luggage.

Despite these disruptions, almost half (45%) of respondents indicated that these challenges hadn't deterred them from planning summer trips. This resilience has prompted the CAA to encourage industry stakeholders to collaborate closely to ensure a smoother travel experience for passengers during the summer rush.

CAA's Chief Executive, Rob Bishton, recently visited Stansted Airport, where he met with Manchester Airport Group's CEO, Ken O'Toole, to discuss how the industry is preparing for the upcoming travel season. During the visit, they explored how airports and airlines are investing in infrastructure and services to improve passenger experiences.

The survey also highlighted that 64% of travelers were aware of their rights in the event of flight delays or cancellations, with 18% indicating they knew their rights in detail. The regulator has launched its "Know Before You Go" campaign to ensure passengers are informed and prepared for possible disruptions.

These findings come as Stansted Airport sets an annual record of 28.5 million passengers this month. The CAA continues to engage with airlines and airports to maintain a high level of resilience and minimize disruptions, ensuring a positive experience for passengers embarking on their summer journeys.
