Alaska Airlines Expands to La Paz and Monterrey, Mexico from Los Angeles

This winter, Alaska Airlines will expand its international network with new routes from Los Angeles to La Paz and Monterrey, Mexico. These additions will make Alaska Airlines the sole U.S. carrier offering nonstop flights to La Paz and the only airline providing daily nonstop service to Monterrey from Los Angeles, starting in February.

Catering to winter travelers seeking warm-weather destinations, the new routes to La Paz (LAP) and Monterrey (MTY) will provide passengers with a blend of scenic coastal escapes and vibrant urban experiences. Ticket sales for these flights began on July 3, available through the airline's website, alaskaair.com.

Having celebrated 35 years of service to Mexico, Alaska Airlines aims to connect travelers to the country's rich culture and natural beauty. "We are proud to be the #1 U.S. carrier with the most flights, seats, and nonstop routes to Mexico from the West Coast," said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines.

The new nonstop services from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to La Paz and Monterrey will enhance connectivity across Alaska Airlines' network. The airline continues to lead with the most flights to destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean from LAX, including nearly 16 daily departures to 15 cities this winter.

La Paz will be served with up to three weekly flights, providing year-round access to the renowned diving and sport fishing destination. Maribel Collins, Baja California Sur’s minister of tourism, praised Alaska Airlines for boosting La Paz’s tourism potential. Raúl Revuelta Musalem, CEO of the Pacific Airport Group, highlighted the route’s significance for the airport's growth and internationalization.

Monterrey, Mexico’s second-largest metropolitan area, will now enjoy daily service to Los Angeles. Known for its stunning Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range and rich culinary scene, Monterrey offers travelers numerous attractions, from Michelin-starred restaurants to outdoor adventures in Huasteca Canyon. Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, emphasized the new route's importance for enhancing international connectivity and meeting travel demand.
