American Airlines faces a strange accusation: a passenger claims his forgotten jacket was "burned"
A passenger who was allegedly flying on an American Airlines flight to Charlotte claims that his jacket, which was forgotten in the cabin, was burned. According to comedian Turner Sparks, airline employees told him that the clothes were disposed of as part of an anti-covid policy.
Sparks shared his negative experience on X, which used to be Twitter. He said that he had left his jacket on the plane for half an hour, and when he tried to pick it up, it was too late.
"I left my jacket on an AmericanAir plane in Charlotte for 30 minutes. When I went back to pick it up, they told me that they... Wait for it... Burned it! The customer service desk said it was company policy to immediately burn all clothing left on airplanes due to COVID 19," the post reads.
In response, the company wrote in the comments that the passenger would be "contacted and given details" so that he could pick up the jacket.
However, the tourist was outraged. He joked that his clothes had already "gone to jacket heaven," so he had nothing to take back. Later, the tourist wrote that he had filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
According to the rules of transportation, the airline is responsible for the loss, damage, or delay of checked baggage, but does not cover the cost of passengers' belongings that they brought on board.
