American Airlines faces another incident involving a ground worker mishandling checked luggage at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). A now-viral video shows a ramp agent forcibly throwing bags off a plane.

This isn't the first time American Airlines has faced criticism for mishandling baggage, as seen in past incidents at other airports, including Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

In a 15-second video posted by Quay Gipson on X, a baggage handler is seen violently throwing two bags. The first bag was thrown like a bowling ball, while the second was tossed and fell due to the force. The video captures American Eagle flights at Terminal E, suggesting the involvement of one of American’s regional subsidiaries: Envoy Air, Piedmont Airlines, or PSA Airlines.

The video led to several comments, including one suggesting the worker might get fired and another criticizing Piedmont Airlines' ramp agents. The adjacent aircraft in the video, operated by Piedmont, confirms Gipson likely traveled with one of American's regional carriers.

American Airlines has a history of baggage mishandling claims, with incidents involving workers reprimanding each other or deliberately damaging luggage. Last year, at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), workers were seen maliciously destroying personal property, while Qantas staff were fired after being caught mistreating luggage.

American Airlines has a poor record for mishandled luggage, ranking as the top airline for lost and damaged checked baggage. SkyWest Airlines and JetBlue Airways follow closely behind.
