Traveling by air can be stressful. Flight delays, turbulence, cramped seats - all of these things can often throw even the calmest people off balance. No wonder passengers often forget about politeness and understanding in such conditions.

Etiquette expert Katarina shared her tips on TikTok to make the flight more enjoyable for herself and others.

Armrests

No matter how cramped the seats may seem, it's even harder for a passenger in the middle of the row than for their neighbors. This should be taken into account before taking up the armrests, the expert said. According to her, you should be attentive to those who are sandwiched between two people.

Perfume

Everyone likes to smell good, but concentrated perfumes can often trigger asthma or migraine attacks in passengers who are locked in the same space with you. It is only polite to follow a hygienic routine and not overuse pungent odors, even if they are very pleasant.

Leaning back

The etiquette expert advised making sure that the passengers behind you are not eating before reclining the seat back. You should also not do this if they are watching a movie on the screen.

Stress

Everyone deals with stress differently, but some passenger habits are uncivilized in a public place. We are talking about nail-biting and other similar habits that are unhygienic.

Politeness

Finally, the etiquette expert emphasized that one should always be polite and kind, not to interfere with passengers in the aisle, and not to quarrel with neighbors.
