Australian blueberries have broken the Guinness World Record, becoming the heaviest in the world

A giant berry from Australia, weighing over 20.4 grams, has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's heaviest blueberry. This phenomenal fruit was picked on November 13, but it has been undergoing research all this time.

The record-breaking blueberry, which measured 39.31 millimeters in diameter, was almost the size of a table tennis ball. According to CNN, it was grown in Corinda, New South Wales, Australia.

Costa Group employees did their best to make the Eterna blueberries, known for their large fruits, a record-breaker.

"The Eterna variety has a really great taste and consistently large berries. When we picked this berry, there were probably about 20 other berries of the same size," said Brad Hocking, senior horticulturist at Costa Group.

Prior to that, the record for the heaviest blueberry belonged to a berry weighing 16.20 grams grown in Western Australia in 2020.

It is reported that the record-breaking blueberries are not inferior in taste and juiciness to other fruits, so this indicates a good job of breeding new varieties.
